Do not be afraid!
Our first complete day in Uganda is behind us! We have awakened to our second day in our new home of Uganda. Over these past few weeks and months of itineration and preparation for our move to Uganda, I have been constantly encouraged, strengthened and amazed at the Steadfastness of our Lord and Savior. On sitting down to read my Bible and enjoy my quite time with the Lord this morning, I was again struck by the amazing Steadfastness of the LORD.
My daughter, Riley, came out to the dinning room around 6:30, woken by a bad dream. After I finished hugging and consoling her, she sat down next to me at the table while I finished my reading. In his providence, one of the passages that I read was from 2 Kings 6:15-18.
When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. And when the Syrians came down against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness in accordance with the prayer of Elisha.
It was so, so encouraging to get to read to Riley the hope that we have in our Savior God. The truth that HE that is for us is SO much greater than he that is against us! Thank you Lord Jesus for your promises and your truths!
Today starts our first full day of running errands and beginning the process of preparing to do life and to be able to properly function here. I know that things will seem overwhelming, they will seem complicated, they will seem “foreign” to our minds so set in their ways. But what hope to know that He that is for us is so much greater than he that is against us!
Grace and Peace!
We didn’t have a lot of time to explore yesterday, but we did get to enjoy our temporary back yard yesterday. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the Lord’s creation.
